Temple
Bar
Dublin's
world-renowned cultural quarter, is literally
on the Paramount's doorstep. Temple Bar
is a maze of quaint cobbled streets.
It's a lively and vibrant area renowned
for its super mix of Pubs, Clubs, Art
Galleries, Quirky Shops and an amazing
selection of Restaurants and Eateries
so there is something to suit every taste
and budget.
The historic Temple Bar area of Dublin City is bounded on the north by the river
Liffey, to the east the old Houses of Parliament, to the west Parliament Street
and to the south Dame Street
During the 1960s and 1970s, the Temple Bar area was marked for demolition for
a major new urban bus station. It was colonized by artists in search of cheap
rents and the place became such a thriving lively area that the government stepped
in, saved it from demolition and spent millions to regenerate it as Dublin's
cultural quarter.
As a result of the cultural framework many galleries, archives and exhibition
spaces have been built in the area including the Irish Film Centre, a Multimedia
Centre, the National Film Archives, the National Photographic Archives and a
Cultural Centre for Children and of course many bars and restaurants.
Temple Bar is the ideal base for business, shopping or sightseeing. It is approximately
9 miles (14km) from Dun Laoghaire Ferry Port and 6 miles (10km) from Dublin airport.
The drive from Rosslare Harbour to Dublin city is approximately 98 miles (158kms)
by car.
