Self Catering Overview

All the houses have access to the Den, which is a communal area with a children's indoor play room with toys, books, games, DVDs and a giant chalk board. Upstairs there is a pool table, air hockey table and a gym. There you will also find information on entertainment in the area. The Den opens onto the outdoor playground and BBQ area. Each house is individual and provides peace and relaxation. Decoy Country Cottages is an ideal location for a romantic getaway, a family holiday or a group reunion. Also on site are a private courtyard garden, secure parking and a playground.

Room Information

All the cottages at Decoy Country Cottages are self-catering. A welcome pack is provided on arrival which contains tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, butter, jam, eggs, dishwasher tablets and washing tablets. There are 6 houses to choose from, ranging from a one-bedroom house sleeping 2 people, to a 4-bedroom house sleeping 8 people. No fossil fuels are used for heat or power. You will also find a gym, an on-site day spa using Dermalogica products, and a private garden overlooking beautiful countryside, and a barbecue area and boules.

Area Information

Meath is known as the place where St Patrick is said to have preached to the people. There is a statue of him commemorating this occasion. Also on the Hill of Tara is a coffee shop and craft shop. Meath is also known as the Heritage capital of Ireland due to the wealth of historic sites dotted through the county. The most famous of these is Newgrange: a collection of burial tombs predating the Pyramids and Stonehenge. They have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are over 5000 old. Trim Castle is the best example of a Norman castle in Ireland and dates from the 12th century. Kells has some of the best examples of Celtic Crosses in Ireland and this year the new Battle of The Boyne Interpretive Centre was opened on the Oldbridge estate. In the area you can enjoy horse racing, horse riding, fishing, golf, go-karting, paintballing and visiting the theatre or cinema. Due to its location in the countryside, it is advisable to have a car when visiting Decoy Country Cottages.
