The
hotel was originally two Georgian houses owned
by the inventor of the Tilly lamp.
The Royal bank acquired No. 63 in the 1820's
as their Dublin headquarters.
In the 1870's the bank further expanded into the adjoining premises (No. 64).
It was at this stage the omate Victorian facade was created.

to the main shopping (Henry and Grafton Street)
and entertainment (including Temple Bar) centres
and is only a short walk to the IFSC, Dublin's
financial district.
