Valley Golf & Country Club is located
in the majestic Lee Valley just 8 miles
north of
Cork City.
Designed
by Christy O'Connor Jnr., this high quality,
championship course
is set in approximately 160 acres of attractive,
undulating terrain.
His thoughtful design has produced a challenging
course where tactical skill is as important
as good shot-making. The
course is eminently
playable by handicap golfers, although
well-placed bunkers and water
hazards ensure that par is a well earned
reward for good play. Extensive
mounding and shaping during construction
have produced an attractive
course where each hole has its own identity.
With five lakes on the property
- all of which are in play - both drainage
and irrigation are excellent.
An
interesting feature of the course are the "fairy forts" located
near the 13th and the 17th fairways. The
remains of these ancient structures have
lain undisturbed for over 300 years.
The
clubhouse is a particularly attractive
feature of
Lee Valley Golf & Country Club. Food
is available throughout the day in both
the Clashanure Lounge Bar and Restaurant.
In fact, the restaurant has created a particularly
special niche and is well established in
its own right. It is the perfect place
to dine in the evening if one is looking
for a relaxing ambience coupled with the
highest standard of cuisine.
