The City Bar & Grill at the Kilkenny Hibernian is full of atmosphere and character. We offer ala carte menu with an early bird option. Enjoy a night of great food, beautiful wine and excellent service. The Grill offers a wide variety of dishes available on the seasonally changed à la carte menu. Area Information
The Victorian Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel was erected in the mid-19th century when it served as a home to the Hackett family. Members of this renowned family included Dr. Hackett a supporter of Charles Stuart Parnell during the 1880’s Land disputes, acclaimed biographer, Francis Hackett and his sister, novelist Frances Hackett.
In 1901 the property was leased to the Hibernian Bank. When the Hibernian Bank was taken over by the Bank of Ireland in the 1960’s, the building was acquired by the Avonmore Food Group. The present owner purchased the property in 1998. Following extensive renovations the Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel opened its doors in May 2000.
