"Enniscrone is a spectacularly beautiful links on the bay of Killala, an undiscovered gem of a links in the far North-West, a course with some amazing holes", so said Peter Dobereiner of 'The Observer' after walking the Enniscrone turf.

The rolling sand dunes which separate the sea from the course, form the perimeter and shape the character of this magnificent links, which is playable all year round. The course has an attractive variety of open flatland and rolling dunes, with the occasional dog-leg adding to the attraction.

After you have honed your skills on the opening par 5's, you are on a great links course. The par-3 fifth is a classic hole, while the valley which channels the approach to the 7th and the high tee at the 10th, both exploit the magnificent scenery over Killala Bay and the Ox Mountains. After the 12th the going gets tough, with the treacherous 13th and its deep valley. The tight 17th leaves no margin for error and the 18th with its blind tee shot causes many palpitations to a golf game.

The 13th Green'Golf World' admirably describes the experience of playing Enniscrone; "Set on the shores of Killala Bay, Enniscrone is home to one of those 'hidden gems'. Laid out on classic links terrain the course has all the normal characteristics of seaside golf - sand dunes, bumps and hollows, thick rough and lightening fast greens. It is a real joy for anyone who enjoys playing golf as near as possible to the way it was in days gone by .... This is certainly a course not to be missed and as the club is very keen to encourage visitors a warm welcome is assured".

Enniscrone is a member of the West Coast Links, a group of six magnificent links courses from Clifden in Galway to Ballyliffin in Donegal. Advance tee time reservations can be made to any of the other courses on request. Use the links at the top of this page to access the other clubs pages.
