Dunquin
Dunquin
is
a village located ten miles from Dingle in west Kerry.
It is part of the Kerry Gaeltacht and has a population of around three hundred
people. The small village has a rich heritage, with ancient artefacts in the
vicinity.
There is a ringfort here called An Dϊn Mhσr and there is also an ancient standing
stone outside the village. The Spanish Armada went down off the coast of Dunquin
in the sixteenth century and it is rumoured that the Prince of Spain is buried
here at "Uaigh Mac Rν na Spαinne". This means, "the burial place of the son of
the king of Spain".
